Sonya (she/her) is a Voting Rights Fellow with the Voting Rights and Census team, focusing on voter outreach and education to disenfranchised communities. Her past experience includes community organizing, human rights policy and advocacy, and humanitarian assistance in conflict countries. During graduate school, she focused on the intersectional experiences of individual and community trauma as a framework for social justice efforts.
She is currently a Steering Committee Member with API Equality-LA, an organization dedicated to empowering Asian and Pacific Islander communities to achieve LGBTQ+, racial, and social justice. She holds a BA in International Studies from American University and an MSc in War and Psychiatry from King’s College London.
