Immigration Enforcement
CA TRUST Act / Acta de Confianza: The TRUST Act (AB 4) is a California state law that went into effect on Jan. 1, 2014. All counties in California must follow this law, which limits cruel and costly immigration "hold" requests in local jails. With TRUST, immigrant crime victims and witnesses will be able to come forward and cooperate with police without fear of deportation. This website provides information on supporting implementation, reviewing county policies, and reporting ICE hold cases online.
CA TRUTH Act (AB 2792): This website provides information about how you can get involved in supporting the TRUTH Act. The TRUTH Act is a pending California state bill would create a transparent process, including community engagement, before local law enforcement can participate in controversial ICE deportation programs. Local law enforcement must then reach an agreement with their city council or county supervisors that sets the terms and conditions of any participation in such programs and ensures compliance with California's TRUST Act.
ICE Out of CA: This website is designed to help advocates and community organizers prevent deportations by disentangling local law enforcement from immigration enforcement and push ICE out of California. Read the ICE Out of California Implementation Guide (English, Spanish)
Guide to California Pardons: This guide is for people facing deportation due to a California state conviction. Since the pardon application process can be challenging, we want to support people in submitting as strong an application as possible as we continue to organize to restore people's rights and to allow immigrants to reopen their deportation cases.
